- Competition entry is free
Young Western Australians are being invited to contribute their ideas to decide the theme and artistic direction of Youth Week WA 2026.
Opening today, the competition coincides with International Youth Day, which is celebrated annually on 12 August to raise awareness about youth issues and promote youth engagement in global development.
The winner of the Youth Week WA 2026 Theme and Design Competition will be chosen by a group which includes the 2026 Youth Week WA Ambassadors and the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council.
As well as being recognised as an influential part of guiding the vision for Youth Week WA 2026, the winner of the competition will have the opportunity to feature on Department of Communities social media promoting the theme to the WA community.
Youth Week is WA's largest annual celebration of young people, aged 10-25, recognising the valuable contributions young people make to WA and providing opportunities for young people to express ideas, raise important issues, and connect with peers.
As part of the competition, young people will be asked to design a theme that is:
- representative of the diverse communities of young people across Western Australia;
- reflective of the current interests and perspectives of young people in the State;
- creative, original and able to stand out and draw attention;
- punchy, powerful and captures the essence of Youth Week WA, its values, purpose and objectives; and
- accessible and inclusive, suitable for a wide range of audiences and with a positive tone aligned with the uplifting nature of Youth Week WA.
The winning theme will be used as part of the Department of Communities branding and communications for Youth Week WA 2026.
If eligible, the winner of the competition will also receive an Apple iPad.
The competition closes Sunday, 28 September 2025. For more information on how to enter, visit the Youth Week WA webpage.
As stated by Youth Minister Hannah Beazley:
"Youth Week is such an important celebration of young people, and the theme really sets the tone for the whole week.
"I encourage all young people who have a way with words, an eye for design, or just want to contribute to Western Australia's largest annual celebration of young people to get involved in this competition.
"I look forward to the artistic results of some of our most creative young minds and seeing their ideas on the direction they believe Youth Week WA 2026 should take."
