Youth Minister Peter Tinley has launched Youth Week WA for 2019 in Mandurah.
Youth Week WA runs from Saturday, April 13 to Saturday, April 20 and is an annual State-wide celebration of the positive contributions of young people to the community.
It will provide young people with the opportunity to express their ideas, raise important issues, make decisions, and create entertainment.
The City of Mandurah is active in the youth space, and the launch event featured a wide range of activities for young people such as archery tag, and a skate versus scooter competition. Youth service providers were also in attendance.
More than 100 events will be held across metropolitan and regional Western Australia during Youth Week, many of which are funded by a Youth Week WA grant through the Department of Communities.
An integral part of Youth Week WA is the KickstART Festival, which includes over 40 free events across seven days for all young people aged 12-26.
KickstART is managed by Propel Youth Arts and includes workshops, live performances, markets, exhibitions, installations, talks, mentorships, and concludes with a high school-style 'prom' event.
The KickstART festival day on Saturday, April 13 in the Perth Cultural Centre will include market stalls, live music, art installations, workshops, short films and special events in Perth's cultural precinct.

As stated by Youth Minister Peter Tinley:
"Youth Week is WA's largest annual celebration of young people, and young people in local communities across Western Australia are key contributors to the development and delivery of Youth Week WA projects.
"A great example of this is the Young People's Planning Committee, which is made up of 30 incredibly enthusiastic and dedicated young people, who plan and develop key events.
"The theme for Youth Week WA in 2019 is 'Nurture The Now'.
"In saying 'Nurture The Now', we're encouraging young people to validate their achievements and progress right now and to create a positive impact during this stage of their life."

"This is a fantastic event for Mandurah and celebrates the wonderful contribution young people make in our community.
"I congratulate the City of Mandurah for their work in this area and encourage young people to get along to one of the many events that will be taking place until Saturday, April 20."
