Jade's Journey: Creating New Opportunities Through Youth Work Training
Sometimes, taking the next step starts with recognising what you're passionate about and giving yourself the chance to explore it.
For Jade, that passion grew through years of working in support roles. She enjoyed helping people and discovered an interest in youth work, prompting her to look for opportunities to build her skills and knowledge in the field.
When a former colleague told her about ETC's youth work training program, Jade decided to take the opportunity to learn more and work towards a formal qualification. What followed was a journey that challenged her, built her confidence and opened the door to new possibilities.
Learning, growing and gaining confidence
Like many people considering study, Jade was excited about the opportunity to learn but also nervous about starting something new. Her goal was to deepen her understanding of youth work and gain the skills and qualifications that could help her pursue opportunities in the sector.
"When I started the introduction course with ETC, I really wanted to get into youth work, and I really wanted to expand on my skills and my knowledge and put myself in a position that I can apply for youth jobs."
Throughout her training, Jade found comfort in knowing support was always available when she needed it. Whether she had questions about the course or needed reassurance along the way, she says help was never far away.
"I had all the help that I could ever ask for, and any time I ever needed anything or was concerned about anything, my ETC Trainer, David, was available to answer all my questions."
For Jade, one of the biggest achievements wasn't just the knowledge she gained. It was the confidence she developed along the way. With encouragement from her trainer and the ETC team, she learned to trust herself and keep moving forward, even when self-doubt crept in.

Building confidence through a Certificate IV in Youth Work
Completing her Certificate IV in Youth Work became a milestone Jade is proud to celebrate.
Like many students, there were moments when she questioned whether she could finish what she started. Reaching the end of the course was a reminder of what can be achieved with commitment, perseverance and support.
"I'm really, really proud of myself for finishing my Cert IV."
That sense of achievement has stayed with her. More than earning a qualification, completing the course gave Jade confidence in her own abilities and reinforced that she could set a goal and achieve it.
Opening doors to new possibilities
Education can provide much more than a qualification. It can create opportunities, build confidence and inspire people to aim higher.
Since completing her training, Jade believes new possibilities have opened up for her. She says the qualification has strengthened her confidence when applying for jobs and encouraged her to consider opportunities she may not have pursued before.
"It's opened up a lot of opportunities and built my confidence up."
For anyone considering study, Jade hopes her experience encourages them to take the first step. Learning something new can be challenging, but it can also be incredibly rewarding.
"If you're considering enrolling in an ETC program, I would just say just go for it."
