Kiama Municipal Council has announced the new waste management collection 2026-27 schedules for the local government area as part of changes to improve the efficiency of the service.
The majority of households in the LGA will have new waste collection days for their garbage, recycling, and food and organic waste as Council delivers essential cost-savings while making sure our services are fit for the future.
Council's new 2026/27 Waste Collection Calendar starts on Monday, 6 July.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Find My Bin page on Council's website, enter their address and all their relevant waste collection information will be displayed.
Dates for their red, yellow and green bins will pop up as well as a calendar that can be downloaded for their specific waste collection zone.
Calendars have also been mailed to all residents in the LGA.
Recycling collection moves to a fortnightly collection cycle from 6 July with the green bin (food and organic waste) collection remaining a weekly service.
The current waste schedule will remain in place until the new 2026-27 calendar takes effect.
Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald said moving to a fortnightly schedule will be a big adjustment for some households so Council is working with the community to make the transition as easy as possible for everyone.
"These changes have been introduced as a way of making our waste collection services more efficient and more cost effective for ratepayers," he said.
"We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these changes."
