Registration for 3‑ and 4‑year‑old kindergarten in 2027 will open Monday 1 June to Friday 26 June 2026.

Families can use one registration form to apply for any of the seven kindergartens across the Central Goldfields Shire.

From 2027, as part of Victorian Government changes, families will have access to:

  • 16–20 hours of funded four‑year‑old kindergarten,
  • 15 hours of funded three‑year‑old kindergarten.
  • 16-25 hours of funded Pre Prep Kindergarten for eligible children.

To help families understand these changes, how to register, and the benefits of kindergarten, an Information Session will be held at Goldfields Shopping Centre (outside Kmart/Coles) on Friday 15 May, 9am to 3.30pm.

To find out which kindergarten is the best fit for your child, we encourage you to attend the upcoming kindergarten open days:

  • T.L. Stone Memorial Kindergarten – Monday 11 May: 3 to 4.30pm
  • Dunolly Kindergarten – Tuesday 19 May: 2.30 to 4.30pm
  • A.G. Leech Kindergarten – Friday 22 May: 2.30 to 4.30pm
  • Goldfields Children's Centre – Saturday 23 May: 10am to 12noon
  • Talbot Kindergarten – Wednesday 27 May: 3 to 4.30pm
  • Californian Gully Kindergarten – Thursday 28 May: 2.30 to 4.30pm
  • Roseberry House Early Learning Centre – Saturday 30 May: 10am to 12noon

The open days are a great opportunity for families to visit each kindergarten, speak with educators about their programs and session times, explore the indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and ask any questions they may have.

Central Goldfields Shire Manager Children and Families, Carolyn Bartholomeusz, said the Shire was fortunate to have seven high‑quality kindergartens for local families.

"Kindergarten provides enormous benefits for children's health, wellbeing, social skills and confidence, giving them a strong foundation for the future.

"With more funded hours available to families in 2027 and our registration period opening soon, we encourage families to learn about the additional hours available before submitting their registration.

"Families are also reminded that the registration process is not first‑in, best‑dressed. There is no advantage to registering early in June or late in June - all applications are processed according to the Victorian Government's priority of access guidelines."
