3 men charged over hate crimes at Parramatta soccer match

Three men have been charged as part of an investigation into crowd behaviour during a soccer match in Parramatta.

In October last year, officers from Parramatta Police Area Command commenced an investigation into reports of alleged hate-crime incidents that occurred during a soccer match held at the local stadium on Saturday 1 October 2022.

As part of the investigation, detectives extensively reviewed broadcast and CCTV footage from throughout the match and evening.

Following inquiries, investigators issued a 24-year-old Beverley Park man with a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) on Friday (3 March 2023) for the offence of knowingly display by public act Nazi symbol without excuse.

A 44-year-old man from Doonside and a 45-year-old man from Wetherill Park were also issued a CAN for the same offence.

They are due to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 19 April 2023.

Investigations continue.
