  • Grant applications invited for projects up to $200,000
  • Not-for-profit organisations and local government authorities eligible to apply
  • Funding derived from cash and property confiscated from criminals

Up to $3 million seized from criminals in Western Australia is being made available for projects targeting crime prevention and community safety.

Acting Attorney General Dr Tony Buti today announced another round of funding under the Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program.

The funds from cash and property seized under the State's proceeds of crime laws are being made available to not-for-profit community groups and local governments.

Administered by the Department of Justice, eligible programs or activities must support victims of crime, prevent or reduce drug-related crimes or enhance community safety.

Past recipients ranged from therapeutic programs for at-risk young people to support services for victims of crime and domestic violence survivors.

Groups seeking grants in this 19th round are invited to apply for up to $200,000 for eligible projects.

Applications close at 12pm Wednesday, 30 August 2023 and further information on the guidelines is available at www.justice.wa.gov.au/grants.

Comments attributed to Acting Attorney General Dr Tony Buti:

"It is particularly fitting that assets seized from convicted criminals are returned to the community and used to support victims of crime and programs which promote public safety.

"I encourage eligible organisations which can deliver these worthy projects to apply.

"It's clear grassroots organisations with close connections to their communities have a vital role to play in crime prevention."
