$500,000 to tackle homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula

Liberal Candidate for Nepean, Anthony Marsh, as part of an elected Liberal and Nationals Government, will invest a total of $500,000 to support people experiencing homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula.

This includes $250,000 for Fusion Mornington Peninsula to enhance housing and support facilities for young parents and their children, and $250,000 for Southern Peninsula Community Support, which is working to drive down rough sleeping across the region.

For 40 years, Fusion has been on the frontline supporting young people and families at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness across the Mornington Peninsula. At the same time, Southern Peninsula Community Support has revealed the scale of the crisis, with the Peninsula recording the highest number of rough sleepers.

Shadow Minister for Housing, David Southwick, said: "This $500,000 investment will support both early intervention and frontline outreach, helping vulnerable Victorians move from crisis into stable, long-term housing."

Member for Mornington, Chris Crewther, said: "Homelessness on the Mornington Peninsula is a growing crisis, and organisations like Fusion and Southern Peninsula Community Support are doing incredible work supporting our community. We're proud to back services delivering real outcomes and helping people access safe, secure housing."

Liberal Candidate for Nepean, Anthony Marsh, said: "This investment is about more than a roof, it's about making sure vulnerable people, including young parents and those sleeping rough, get the support they need to rebuild their lives and secure a stable future."

Fusion Team Leader, Gemma Hughes, said: "The numbers speak for themselves: the Mornington Peninsula is in the grip of a youth housing crisis. When young people aged 10-19 are the largest group seeking homelessness support and mothers are returning to dangerous situations because there are no safe housing options, we must act.

This pledge offers an opportunity to continue Fusion's work of supported housing, the only service offering supported housing for young people and young families experiencing homelessness in our region."
