Police Hunt Stolen Motor Vehicle in Winnellie

The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating after a security vehicle was stolen from a defence facility in Darwin yesterday.

Around 4:30pm, police received a report that an unknown male had unlawfully entered the RAAF Base Darwin. A short time later, it is alleged the unknown male approached a white Ford Ranger security vehicle as the two security officers disembarked.

The male has entered the vehicle, and when confronted by security, has assaulted one officer.

The vehicle was later sighted travelling south on the Stuart Highway and a pursuit commenced but was called off near Palmerston after police lost sight of the vehicle.

Around 4am this morning, police believe the vehicle, now carrying 3 occupants, was allegedly involved in a fuel drive off in Coolalinga and a theft incident in Zuccoli.

Detectives from the Crime Command and Strike Force Trident are investigating, and have identified a number of offenders.
