The Australian Government has announced up to $50m funding to develop clean energy supply chains in the Indo-Pacific.
Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen announced the funding at the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial meeting in Goa India on Saturday.
The funding will be Australia's contribution to the Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Diversification Program, which was announced at the Quad Leaders' Summit in May. The Quad is a diplomatic partnership between Australia, India, Japan and the United States, committed to promoting an open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is inclusive and resilient.
Secure and diverse supply chains for clean energy are essential to Indo-Pacific energy security and emissions reduction goals and the transition to a net zero future.
The Program will fund research and development, and feasibility studies in the Indo-Pacific to support development and diversification of key clean energy supply chains associated with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, hydrogen electrolysers and batteries.
