775 Charges Filed After Device Found in Hospitals

Police will today lay 775 further charges as part of an ongoing investigation into the discovery of an illegal recording device at Melbourne hospitals.

Detectives from Mernda Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team will lay the additional charges against the 27-year-old man on Wednesday 3 December 2025.

The charges are for a range of offences including stalking, produce intimate image and install optical surveillance device.

They relate to alleged offending at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

No alleged offending at any new facilities has been identified.

The charges are in addition to 133 charges laid in July and August this year, bringing the total number of charges to 908.

It's alleged a mobile phone was used as a recording device in staff toilets at all three hospitals.

Police do not expect to identify further alleged victims.
