- WA Government and Cancer Research Trust co-fund prestigious grant program
- Support for high-calibre, multidisciplinary teams to tackle all types of cancer
- Up to $1 million a year for nine years available to transform cancer treatment and control
The State Government has joined forces with the Cancer Research Trust to provide $9 million to drive leading-edge cancer research across Western Australia.
The Collaborative Cancer Research Grant (CCRG), jointly funded through the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund and Cancer Research Trust, will support teams of researchers undertaking bold, multidisciplinary projects to make a significant contribution to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer.
Designed to position local teams to compete for national and global funding, the CCRG will provide up to $1 million per year for five years, with the potential for an extension.
The program encourages collaboration between organisations and welcomes proposals that recruit senior researchers from interstate or overseas, alongside early-career researchers committed to working in WA.
Applications for the CCRG open today, 20 June, with full program details and guidelines available at: www.cancerresearchtrust.org.au .
As stated by Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson:
"This is a game-changing investment in the future of cancer research in WA.
"The Cook Government is proud to partner with the Cancer Research Trust to deliver this program and give WA researchers the resources they need to lead on the national and international stage."
As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:
"With a strong focus on collaboration, excellence and real-world impact, we can unlock new breakthroughs in the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer.
"These breakthroughs are of global significance, advancing cancer care in our own health system and abroad."
