Raising the Bar Adelaide takes place on Tuesday 13 August and features 20 talks from academics and experts at ten bars across the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.
2019 marks the second year that the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has held the event, which will see ten venues across the City's turn into spaces for learning and discussion for one night.
Little Bang Brewing Co. will host a talk given by Matthew Stubbs, Associate Professor at Adelaide Law School, on the prospect of war in space. Matthew is a member of an international research project which is tasked with developing a new set of international laws to govern the military use of space. Matthew's talk, 'Laws for the Final Frontier' will explore the real possibility of the militarisation of space and takes place at 6.30pm at Little Bang Brewery, Stepney.

Nearby at The Avenues, Dr Jessica Grieger will talk about a completely different topic in 'What to Eat, What Not to Eat: A Pregnant Women's Guide'. Jessica's research focuses on how changes in diet can modify metabolic health to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes, and this forms the focus of her talk. Through the evening, she'll highlight key nutrients and supplements that support pregnancy health; dispel common myths about foods to avoid, or eat; and focus on the importance of a healthy diet before and during pregnancy. 'What to Eat, What Not to Eat: A Pregnant Women's Guide' will be held at 6.30pm at The Avenues, Stepney.
Later in the evening, Dr Robert Moles will give a talk titled 'The Un-making of a Murder'. Robert is one of Australia's leading researchers on miscarriages of justice, and played a key part in the retrial of murder suspect, Henry Keogh. He will give a fascinating talk on the cases of Henry Keogh and the steps that were taken which resulted in both his conviction, and, 20 years later, his release. 'The Un-making of a Murder' will take place at 8.30pm at the Alma Tavern, Magill Road.
