Vital resurfacing works will be carried out on College Crescent in Parkville over two weeks in January to deliver a smoother and safer journey for drivers.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said the $2 million maintenance works would resurface and revitalise the road which thousands of Melburnians rely on to get across town.
College Crescent will need to close for the works between the Swanston Street roundabout and Princes Park Drive from 7:00am Saturday 2 January, until midnight Saturday 16 January.
Crews will be working day and night to replace the pavement and road surface layers along the 800 metre stretch of road.
Drivers should plan ahead and allow for extra travel time, with delays of 30 minutes expected. Detours will be in place on Hoddle Street, Victoria Parade, Elizabeth Street, Royal Parade, Nicholson Street and Maribyrnong Road.
Delays are also expected along Hoddle and Victoria Streets in East Melbourne and Brunswick and on Maribyrnong Road.
Drivers who use College Crescent to connect from CityLink to the Eastern Freeway will also experience delays, while road access will be maintained for local businesses and residents.
Other works may also impact the journey of drivers across the city, including closures for tram works along Bridge Road, Richmond from Sunday 3 January, to Saturday 16 January. This will also include closures for drivers at the Bridge Road and Church Street intersection from Thursday 7 January through to Tuesday 12 January.
To ensure the safety of all workers and the community, all construction and maintenance work undertaken will operate under a COVID Safe plan. Real-time traffic conditions are available at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or via the VicTraffic mobile app.
