Council has celebrated the completion of brand new Snowy Mountains Highway truck, caravan and car parking areas in Adaminaby at an official opening event on Thursday 2 April 2026.
Joining Mayor Chris Hanna, Deputy Mayor Tricia Hopkins and the Council project team at the ceremony was Minister Kristy McBain MP, Member for Eden-Monaro, along with representatives from Snowy Hydro and the Adaminaby community.
The project has delivered two new highway parking rest areas adjacent to the Adaminaby CBD, one for heavy vehicles and the other for cars and caravans.
Works were completed in two stages over the course of 2025, with the new infrastructure providing major improvements to public safety and contributing to the growth of Adaminaby's visitor economy by making it easier and more appealing for visitors to stop in and check out local business offerings in town.
Speaking at the event, Minister McBain, Mayor Hanna, and Sarah Norris from Snowy Hydro all commended the collaborative effort behind the project and the high quality of the completed work.
The project was made possible thanks to a $1,302,917 grant received through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, jointly funded by the Commonwealth and NSW Governments.
Council also acknowledges the invaluable support and collaboration of Snowy Hydro in delivering these significant local infrastructure and road safety upgrades.
