  • Australian-exclusive 2026 AAMI AFL Origin sells out
  • Around 60,000 fans will watch Western Australia v Victoria match in Perth on 14 February 2026
  • Iconic match expected to draw thousands of visitors to WA and inject millions into the visitor economy as part of Cook Government's economic diversification strategy

Tickets for the 2026 AAMI AFL Origin between Western Australia and Victoria have now sold out, with a 60,000 strong crowd to pack out Optus Stadium in February 2026.

The Australian exclusive event is expected to bring thousands of out-of-state visitors to WA to watch the highly anticipated clash on Saturday, 14 February at Optus Stadium.

The sellout comes following the latest announcement that players Callum Ah Chee, Brandon Starcevich, and more will be representing Team WA, while Patrick Dangerfield and more will be playing for Victoria.

Hundreds of thousands of footy fans are expected to watch the AFL's best players represent their home states in the return of AFL Origin, with the game being broadcast live across Australia, shining a national spotlight on Perth.

Supported by the Cook Government through Tourism WA, the Australian-exclusive match marks the return of the State v State clash after 26 years.

WA will proudly wear a guernsey locally designed and made by Bassendean-based sporting apparel manufacturer Burley Sekem, featuring the iconic Western Australian black swan against black and gold colours.

The 2026 AFL Origin joins a blockbuster summer of events for WA, with the fun beginning with the United Cup, continuing with the inaugural Perth Sail Grand Prix and the popular Rugby SVNS, and culminating with the AFC Women's Asian Cup in March.

Investing in events forms part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to grow the tourism industry to create a stronger, more diverse visitor economy.

Events like AFL Origin help create an always on, year-round calendar of events that delivers significant benefits for local jobs and businesses, while also making Western Australia an even better place to live, work and visit.

Should any general public final tickets become available, they will be released via Ticketmaster on a date to be communicated via AFL Channels

As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:

"The 2026 AFL Origin selling out well ahead of February is a testament to the demand for high-profile sporting spectacles here in Western Australia.

"It's estimated that thousands of event tickets have been purchased by out-of-state fans, which tells us that our local tourism and hospitality businesses can expect a big weekend when AFL Origin comes to Perth on 14 February, with millions of dollars expected in visitor spend.

"With all tickets now snapped up, we can also be confident that the game's coverage, which will put eyes from all over the nation on Western Australia, will elevate our State's reputation as a premier destination to host major sporting events through our government's economic diversification strategy."
