Today, 22 May 2025, the Aix-Marseille University (France) won the French edition of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition. The final round was held in the ICC's Courtroom I in The Hague (the Netherlands). The Thomas Sankara University (Burkina Faso) won the second place. The award for the Best Speaker went to Torimté Amos Gahire of the Thomas Sankara University.

Members of the winning team are Ambre Babonneau, Jeanne Joyaux, Maewenn Deas and Clémence Lafont.

On the judge's bench for this competition were ICC Judge Nicolas Guillou (presiding), Associate Legal Officer Nadia Galinier and Legal Adviser Marianne Saracco.

The teams competed on a fictitious case, presenting oral arguments in the roles of the Prosecution and of the Defence. The competition was web-streamed live on the Court's website and Facebook account (in French).

The Hague Academy of International Law organized this fourth edition of the ICC Moot Court Competition in French language with the support of the French Embassy in the Netherlands. In total, 35 universities and 140 students from 13 countries participated in the competition. 10 universities from Belgium, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Côte d'Ivoire, and France qualified for the oral phase of the competition.

ICC Moot Court Competitions are part of the ICC Academic programme, and are organized in English, Spanish, French and Chinese with a view to also support an Arabic version in the future. These initiatives play a critical role in gathering interest in the Court's work with academic communities as well as in enhancing promotion and respect for international criminal law.
