- New $9.9 million double-storey classroom block completed at Albany Senior High School
- Accommodation for approximately 200 students
- Refurbishment of existing rooms to provide a new STEM laboratory and 3D printer room also part of the project
Albany Senior High School students are learning in modern, new classrooms after the completion of a $9.9 million double-storey classroom block.
The new building provides accommodation for approximately200 students and includes
eight general learning areas, two incidental learning areas, a staff study space, and staff and student toilets.
The new teaching and learning spaces will replace transportables with modern facilities that have been designed to complement the existing architecture of this local landmark. A link at first floor level into the existing school building and new landscaping will improve accessibility.
As part of the project, refurbishment of existing studios was completed in November 2024 to provide a new STEM laboratory and 3D printer room for marine science and ocean studies.
The project also included the refurbishment of the central staff room with new flooring and painting, which was completed in January 2025.
The lead consultant was local firm Roberts Gardiner Architects and the project was constructed by Wauters Enterprises Pty Ltd.
Albany Senior High School first opened in 1924 and currently has approximately 840 students enrolled.
It forms part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to delivering quality education infrastructure across Western Australia.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
"This is an exciting time for the staff and students at Albany Senior High School.
"I'm pleased these outstanding learning facilities are now completed so students and teachers are learning and teaching in high-quality facilities that complement this fantastic school.
"We are committed to ensuring all Western Australian students are learning in the best possible environments."
