Annual SDG 2026: AI Policies for Arab Social Inclusion

ESCWA has released the Annual SDG Review 2026, the fifth in its series, highlighting how artificial intelligence (AI) policies in the Arab region can effectively support social inclusion. The report analyses national and regional AI policies through a social inclusion lens, examining how far they set ethical guardrails and guide the use of AI to ensure equal access to services, participation, and opportunities for all, especially vulnerable groups.

It also features a case study of ministries of social affairs across Arab countries. Based on a dedicated survey, it explores current and planned uses of AI, risk management approaches, institutional readiness, and partnerships.

Drawing on both the policy review and the case study, the report identifies key gaps and outlines priority actions to help policymakers harness AI in a more inclusive and responsible way.
