ANZAC Day Commemorations Across Baw Baw Shire In 2026

Community members are invited to pay their respects at a commemorative service in Baw Baw Shire this ANZAC Day.

Commemorative services will take place at war memorials in townships across the Shire, including Aberfeldy, Darnum, Drouin, Erica, Hill End, Jindivick, Longwarry, Longwarry North, Narracan East, Neerim South, Noojee, Thorpdale, Trafalgar, Walhalla, Warragul, Willow Grove, and Yarragon.

These commemorations will take place at various times on Saturday 25 April, including dawn services. Please note that the service in Longwarry will be held on the Sunday prior to ANZAC Day, Sunday 19 April.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson is encouraging everyone to join in the ANZAC spirit and come along to their local community event.

She says, "ANZAC Day is a time for Australians everywhere to gather and honour the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of those who have served our nation. This is a time to honour and remember those who have lost their lives serving in Australia's armed forces. Lest we forget."

Baw Baw Shire Deputy Mayor Councillor Suzanne Allen thanked the many community groups involved in planning, preparation and delivery of this year's local ANZAC Day commemorative services.

"We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated RSL clubs and community groups volunteering their time to organise these community events and keep the ANZAC spirit alive", said Cr Allen.

"I encourage everyone to participate in your local commemoration and honour the memory of those who came before us. Those wishing to pay their respects from home are encouraged to stand outside in their yard, driveway or balcony and observe a minute's silence at 5:55am as the Last Post is played during dawn services."

Please note:

  • Those attending a local event are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early.
  • Some roads will be temporarily closed across the Shire to enable local ANZAC Day commemorations to take place.
