Community members, groups and residents of the Rockhampton Region will come together this Tuesday to pause, remember and commemorate ANZAC Day and those who have served past and present.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said ANZAC Day is a day to remember and honour those who went before us from the Gallipoli landing in 1915 through to the many campaigns and current operations of today.

"ANZAC Day is a day to pay our respects, and it warms my heart to see so many opportunities for our community to do just that," Mayor Williams said.

"The events are being held right across our region and ensure all residents will be able to find and attend a local service or march in their area."

Chair of the Rockhampton ANZAC Day Committee Councillor Drew Wickerson said the event organisers have gone above and beyond to ensure the success of the events.

"To allow the commemorations to occur and ensure the safety of participants temporary road closures will be in place on 25 April in Rockhampton from 3.00am to 6.00am for roads adjacent to the Botanic Gardens and from 6.00am to 1.00pm for roads in the CBD," Cr Wickerson said.

"This year, there will be there will be a bus shuttle operating for the Dawn Service from Fantastic Furniture carpark to the Botanic Gardens. Departing 3am to 4am and returning 5.15am to 6.15am.

"Limited parking will be available at The Rockhampton Golf Club, Mater Hospital, and the temporary car park off Agnes Street.

"We encourage attendees to carpool to events, organise travel plans prior to attending and ensure traffic safety by obeying road rules and following traffic controller instructions.

"I am looking forward to attending a local service and march and being able to pay my respects to our armed forces.

"This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War, and we want to take time this year to honour and remember the service of some 60,000 Australian men and women who served in the Vietnam War and their families.

"This year also marked the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Australia's only all-Indigenous military unit. Formed in 1943, the Torres Strait Light Infantry Battalion was raised to defend Australia's northern lands from the threat of Japanese invasion during World War 2.

"Between Council Services and those held by community groups, there are many events across the region for community members to attend and pay their respects."
