An investigation has commenced after 14 kangaroos are believed to have been deliberately killed on the state's south coast overnight.
Just after 7am today (Saturday 9 October 2021), police were called to the Long Beach area, near Batemans Bay, after reports a number of kangaroos had been killed.
Officers from South Coast Police District attended along with WIRES, locating five adult kangaroos and one joey dead on Blairs Road and Sandy Place.
Police have since been notified a further seven kangaroos and one joey were found dead in the Maloneys Beach area.
They have since been removed and initial inquiries suggest they may have been deliberately killed.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances and police have spoken to multiple witnesses and are examining CCTV from the area.
As part of inquiries, investigators are seeking to identify the drivers of two white 4WD utility's seen in the areas of Blairs Road and Sandy Place, Long Beach and Maloneys Drive and Hibiscus Close, Maloneys Beach, between 10pm yesterday (Friday 8 October 2021) and 12:30am today.
