Appeal after sexual assault in Sydney

Police have released an image of a man and are appealing for information as investigations continue into reports of a sexual assault in Sydney today.

About 3pm (Saturday 2 April 2022), a 15-year-old boy was detained and sexually assaulted by an unknown man on the Country Concourse at Central Railway Station.

The man allegedly detained the teenager in a toilet and sexually assaulted him before leaving the scene and boarding a train to Mortdale Railway Station where he disembarked and left the station.

The boy reported the incident to his mother who contacted police.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were alerted and commenced an investigation into the incident.

As part of ongoing inquiries, police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist their investigation.

The man depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, solid build, aged between 40 and 50 years, with a white beard. He is shown wearing a black and fluorescent jacket with a black t-shirt, jeans and black sneakers.

As inquiries continue, police urge anyone with information that may assist with the identification of the man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
