Appeal after sexual touching at Blacktown shopping centre

Investigators are appealing for public assistance after a girl was sexually touched while at a shopping centre in Sydney's west yesterday.

Police have been told an eight-year-old girl was standing outside a supermarket inside a shopping centre on Patrick Street, Blacktown, about 3.50pm (Thursday 8 October 2020), when an unknown man slapped her on the buttocks before walking away.

The incident was reported to officers from Blacktown Police Area Command and an investigation commenced.

As inquiries continue, detectives have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being aged in his 40s, between 165cm–175cm tall, of medium build, with tattoos on both arms.

The man is depicted in the image wearing a red cap with a yellow logo, a black shirt and blue denim jeans with red and white sneakers. He was carrying a grey and black backpack and a belt.
