Appeal for witnesses to crash, NSW

Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash in Sydney’s north which left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

About 7.40am today, a black Hyundai Imax collided with a Harley Davison motorcycle at the intersection of the M2 and Lane Cove Road, Macquarie Park.

The Imax was travelling in a north easterly direction on Lane Cove Road, with the motorcycle attempting to turn right on to Lane Cove Road from the M2 when the crash occurred.

As a result of the crash, the 46-year-old man riding the motorcycle suffered serious lower leg injuries. He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

The 59-year-old man driving the van, a US National, was arrested at the scene and taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was granted bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday (4 July 2016).

Police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward, particularly drivers who were travelling north on Lane Cove Road at the time.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
