Applications now open for James N Stevens Scholarship

Applications for the James N Stevens Scholarship are now open and will be accepted until Friday 4 November.

Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Mike Symon, said the scholarship is a great opportunity for a local tertiary student.

"The James N Stevens Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for a Maroondah student to undertake a practical placement within Maroondah City Council's Corporate Services Directorate.

"The placement will provide the recipient with invaluable development opportunities, including practical work experience in their chosen field and the chance to gain insights into careers within Local Government," Cr Symon said.

"I'd encourage eligible students to apply for this rare and wonderful opportunity."

Council offers the scholarship annually in recognition of the many years of service given to the local community by the former Deputy Town Clerk of the City of Croydon, the late Mr James (Jim) Stevens.

Applications are open to students who have successfully completed at least the first year of a tertiary course and are undertaking, or about to undertake, their second year of tertiary studies in one of the following areas of study:

  • Finance/Accounting
  • Records Management
  • Information Technology
  • Customer Service
  • Human Resources
  • Council Administration (ie Governance)
  • Rates/Revenue
  • Risk Management

The scholarship will be awarded to one student, to be completed between 21 November 2022 and 17 February 2023 at a mutually convenient time. It is valued at $3,000.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 4 November.
