  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today announced that PFM will work on upgrades at both Joondalup Primary School and Joondalup Education Support Centre.

Joondalup Education Support Centre provides specialist education for just over 100 students with disability and special education needs.

PFM will commence work on a $300,000 project to improve access to classrooms and enhance learning areas for students, which will include adding ramps and widening pathways.

With this project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to start in mid-2021 with completion anticipated in late 2021.

Situated on the same site on Blue Mountain Drive, Joondalup Primary School will receive a much-needed car park upgrade worth $350,000 to improve safety for students and pedestrians and provide additional parking space for parents.

Planning has also started on this project, with works expected to begin in mid-2021.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

"The McGowan Government is committed to upgrading facilities at schools around Western Australia to benefit all students, no matter where they live.

"Students at the education support centre have specialist needs, and this project to upgrade access will make it easier for all students to move around learning areas.

"Parents at Joondalup Primary School will be pleased to hear that the main car park is going to be expanded to allow additional parking spaces."

As stated by Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard:

"It's great to see the amazing work happening at both Joondalup Education Support Centre and Joondalup Primary School and how both schools work so well together on the one school site.

"This is a fantastic project which will improve classroom access and learning areas for students."
