Architect appointed to design new early childhood buildings at Wickham Primary School

  • ​Architects appointed for Wickham Primary School $3.5 million new early childhood buildings
  • More than 90 early childhood students will benefit from the new facilities
  • The project will support 12 local jobs
  • Local Karratha Architects Hurley Architecture and Planning have been selected to design $3.5 million new early childhood buildings at Wickham Primary School which will provide exciting learning opportunities for Kindergarten and Pre-primary students.

    The project will include four purpose built early childhood classrooms with landscaped play areas.

    The new early childhood buildings for Kindergarten and Pre-primary students will include teaching spaces, kitchens, and storerooms.

    With the project now in the planning stage, construction is expected to start in August 2021 with completion expected in May 2022.

    The project is part of the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan to modernise Western Australian public schools and is expected to support more than 12 jobs.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “These upgrades ensure that staff and students at Wickham Primary School have the facilities they need to deliver the best possible learning opportunities.

    “The major school upgrade is part of the State Government’s commitment to enhance facilities at 63 public schools around Western Australia.”

    As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:

    “I am proud the McGowan Government is expanding Wickham Primary School, a project that will enhance education for local students and deliver local jobs.

    “As more students enrol at Wickham Primary School, it is vital that we expand and upgrade the facilities so our local teachers can keep up the fantastic job they do.”
