Armed robbery and stalking charges, Woree

Cairns detectives have charged a 47-year-old Bungalow man with several offences including armed robbery and stalking following an alleged assault at a Woree home on April 28.

It will be alleged three men attended an Anderson Road home around 8.30pm and spoke to the male occupant, who was known to them.

The men entered the house where police will allege the 45-year-old male occupant was assaulted- punched, hit with a hammer and threatened with a knife and boiling water - before the trio stole the man's phone, car keys and bank cards and then fled the scene.

Detectives yesterday arrested a 47-year-old man and charged him with one count each of armed robbery in company, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and in company, unlawful stalking and enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence.

The man was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

The man sought media treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigations are continuing.
