Assault - Alice Springs

A 17-year-old male is assisting Police with their enquiries in relation to an incident which left another man with a serious head wound in Alice Springs overnight.

Just before 2am, it is alleged a 17-year-old male youth removed a section of portable fencing and used it to damage a car parked on Barrett Drive, Northern Territory Police say.

Security officers confronted the man who ran towards the entrance of the licensed premises and allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with a 22-year-old man before pulling a weapon and stabbing him in the head.

The 22-year-old man was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.

The 17-year-old youth is expected to be charged in relation to the assault later today.
