ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Weather Situation: A slow-moving tropical low is situated over the southeast and is slowly moving to the south. Rich tropical moisture surrounding this system is bringing a risk of heavy rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the Simpson district. Six-hour rainfall totals between 25 and 75 mm are likely. 24-hour rainfall totals between 50 and 100 mm are likely. Rainfall is expected to gradually ease throughout Wednesday.
These conditions also threaten cattle and other livestock.
Locations which may be affected include Simpson District east of Finke.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Barkly and Tanami districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
· Slow down and turn your headlights on
· Secure loose outside objects
· Ensure pets and animals are safe
· Avoid remaining in the open when storms threaten
· Pull over if it is raining heavily and you cannot see, park with your hazard lights on until the rain clears
· Avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
