Ballajura evade police arrest

Midland Detectives have charged a man after an evade police incident in Ballajura last night, Friday 30 October 2020.

Just after 9pm officers on patrol sighted a Toyota Camry travelling at speed on Illawarra Crescent in Ballajura.

It will be alleged the driver failed to stop for police and travelled through various streets before police aborted the pursuit on Bellefin Drive due to concerns for public safety.

It will be further alleged the Toyota Camry was later sighted by police on Energy Street and re-engaged. Once again the driver failed to stop for police and continued on until he abandoned the car on Bellefin Drive, fleeing on foot and jumping over several fences before being apprehended by police.

The 21-year-old man from Ballajura has been charged with:-

• One count of Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police;

• One count of Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation); and

• One count of No Authority to Drive.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court (Northbridge) today, 31 October 2020.
