Receiving assistance from Bayside Care and Support has made it possible for Ros to continue living independently in her own home.
Through Bayside Care and Support, Ros receives assistance with cleaning, shopping and general administration tasks, helping her manage everyday activities and maintain her independence.
"Council has been fantastic with their support," Ros said. "I have help with the floors and tidying each week, and someone assists with shopping every second week."
Ros also receives help reading documents and navigating technology when her impaired vision makes things difficult.
"If I need help reading things or using technology because of my vision, they're always there to help."
Someone to lean on 🫶
Ros' assigned Care Partner, Kate, from Bayside Care and Support, coordinates services and appointments for Ros, including visits from a podiatrist and other health professionals.
"Kate is wonderful, very approachable and always willing to help," Ros said.
Ros is also able to access transport to attend the Social Support Program, where participants share meals, exercise and spend time together. This aspect of the program is essential for Ros to stay connected to people and the activities she enjoys.
"It's not easy for me to get there on my own, so being picked up and taken to the centre makes a big difference," she said.
"Even though my vision makes it hard to join every activity, it's lovely to be there with nice people and make friends and the food is wonderful."
At home, Ros is accompanied by her black Labrador guide dog, Paddy, and receives assistance organising essentials such as dog food. "I even get support with things like organising Paddy's food," she said.
