Bayside Council is partnering with The Get Grubby Program to provide local early learning services, primary schools and families with engaging, practical sustainability education resources that help children connect with nature and learn sustainable habits.
The partnership will officially launch at Project Planet on 17 October 2026 and will continue with a program of activities and promotions through to October 2027.
Costa the Garden Gnome from dirtgirlworld will be there to help launch the partnership and celebrate the sustainability learning opportunities it will bring to local schools and families across Bayside.
The Get Grubby Program, created and produced by the award-winning dirtgirlworld and Get Grubby TV team, supports children aged 3 to 10 to explore nature and sustainability through play, music, stories, videos and hands-on activities. The program features beloved characters dirtgirl, scrapboy and Costa the Garden Gnome.
The curriculum-aligned resources are designed to be flexible and accessible for educators, parents and carers. They include themed learning units, videos, printable activity kits, posters, certificates, educator guides and music.
The partnership aims to help children build a lifelong connection with nature, through fun, practical learning experiences.
It will also provide educators, parents and carers with valuable tools and resources to incorporate nature-based learning into everyday activities and inspire meaningful environmental action from an early age.
Bayside Mayor Christina Curry said
"This partnership gives Bayside's youngest residents the opportunity to learn about sustainability in a fun, hands-on way. By encouraging positive environmental habits from an early age, we are helping to create a more sustainable future for our community."
