Beat scammers and dive into Law on Beach

University of Newcastle

Financial scammers don't discriminate when honing in on their targets, often leaving the most vulnerable in the community confused and fearful.

Beginning Monday, the University of Newcastle School of Law and Justice's flagship clinic, Law on the Beach, gives community members the opportunity to seek free legal advice on how to deal with scams, or to ask questions about any kind of legal matter, from traffic fines to employment discrimination.

Staffed by law students and University of Newcastle Legal Centre lawyers at Merewether Surf Club, the clinics aim to provide a casual setting to hold legal conversations and make seeking legal advice more approachable.

Although the clinics run on a 'drop-in' basis, with no appointment necessary, people are encouraged to call 4921 8666 to advise of their intention to attend.
