Berlina driver in a jam at Whyalla Norrie, SA

A Holden Berlina driver has found himself in a jam after he was caught drink-driving with shredded tyres on his car in Whyalla Norrie last night, according to SA Police.

It is alleged that about 8.15pm on Friday 17 August, a patrol saw the car driving south on McDouall Stuart avenue when it collided with the kerb and came to a stop as it was entering a roundabout.

Police saw that the car’s rear tyres were bald and smoking, with one of the tyres worn down to its threads.

The male driver underwent a breath test, and returned a positive reading of 0.191.

The 29-year-old Whyalla Stuart man was reported for numerous traffic offences including aggravated driving without due care, exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol, breaching vehicle standards and breach of provisional licence conditions.

He was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice, he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date, and his car was impounded for 28 days with police looking to permanently seize the vehicle.
