Bruce Comben Reserve will host a day packed with family-friendly entertainment as the Out & About Festival hits Seabrook and Altona Meadows this month.

Featuring live music, kids' entertainment from The Mik Maks, food trucks, activities and giveaways, the festival will showcase Council's Better Places program for the Seabrook and Altona Meadows community.

The festival will be held on Saturday 17 September 2022 from 2pm to 7pm at Bruce Comben Reserve on Central Avenue, Altona Meadows. As well as all the fun of the festival, the community will be able to provide feedback on the draft vision and principles for the Better Places Seabrook and Altona Meadows program, and give their project ideas that will help make their neighbourhood a better place.

The draft vision and principles have been developed based on community feedback from the first stage of consultation where 3,610 pieces of feedback were received on what the community loves, might want changed and any other ideas for Seabrook and Altona Meadows.

People at the festival will also have the opportunity to view the preliminary concept plan for the Western Aquatic and Early Years Centre proposed for Bruce Comben Reserve, ask questions and have a say on the project.

Deputy Mayor of Hobsons Bay and Wetlands Ward councillor, Diana Grima, said the community support for the first stage of community consultation on this project had been amazing.

"To receive more than 3,600 pieces of feedback is incredible and it's easily the biggest response we've had across all the Better Places programs completed so far," Cr Grima said.

"It just shows how connected this community is to their neighbourhood and how passionate they are about making it a better place to live, work, study and play."

Fellow Wetlands Ward councillor, Matt Tyler, said the feedback provided by the Seabrook and Altona Meadows community had really helped shape the draft vision and principles.

"It's time to take the next step and receive project ideas that will help turn what we've heard so far into reality," Cr Tyler said.

"The Out & About Festival will be a great day, kids love The Mik Maks, so they're sure to be a highlight. It's a great chance for people of all ages to have a good time, but also be part of making a difference to making our community even better."
