Big Jazz Day Out returns to MPAC at Monash University on 21 March 2026, bringing together over 100 performers across five stages for a full day of genre-defying music, food, and community celebration. From jazz legends to emerging talent, this one-day festival showcases the vibrant diversity of Australia's jazz scene, with performances spanning soul, funk, swing, Latin, Brazilian, and experimental sounds.

Headlining the festival is Australian jazz icon Vince Jones, performing with the Monash Sinfonia in a cinematic reimagining of his celebrated works. Audiences can also experience the cosmic grooves of ARIA-winning Mildlife, the hypnotic collaboration of Mindy Meng Wang and Paul Grabowsky, and the soulful stylings of Mama Alto in tribute to Billie Holiday. The day also features high-energy sets from Cookin' on 3 Burners, The Shuffle Club with Rebecca Barnard, and the return of crowd-favourite Jazzeoke.

The festival proudly showcases talent from the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, with Monash students and staff performing alongside international and Australian artists. From the immersive sonic storytelling of The Cloud Maker to the Brazilian rhythms of Dany Maia, the program is a celebration of creativity, collaboration and cultural exchange.

Held across MPAC's state-of-the-art venues including Alexander Theatre, The Count's, and David Li Sound Gallery, Big Jazz Day Out offers more than just music. Attendees can enjoy delicious food and drinks, relax with friends, and explore interactive experiences throughout the day.

Entry is free for children under 14, making it a perfect outing for families and music lovers alike.
