Bike maintenance stations to hit Hobsons Bay's trails

Bike-maintenance-stations.jpg

Council is rolling out three new bike maintenance stations along shared trails in Hobsons Bay, following two community submissions during its 2019-20 Pitch your Idea Budget process.

The bike maintenance stations will allow riders to complete on-the-go maintenance and repairs with a pump and basic tools at each site to ensure they can safely reach their destination. Tools include flat head and Phillips screwdrivers, wrenches, tyre levers and an air pump. The stations are designed to service two bikes at once and the hanger arms allow a bike to be elevated off the ground while repairs are made.

The new stations will be installed at the following locations:

  1. McBain Street – near the vehicle access ramp, Altona
  2. Burgoyne Reserve – Williamstown
  3. Lan Avenue Bridge – across Skeleton Creek at Ravenswood Court, Seabrook.

Installation at Altona and Williamstown will occur in June 2020 while the station at the Skeleton Creek location will be installed after the new pedestrian bridge works are complete.

This initiative supports Council's endeavours to create a trail that is well connected, user-friendly and inclusive.
