Blinken Meets with Japan's Prime Minister Kishida

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio. Secretary Blinken thanked Prime Minister Kishida for his leadership in guiding the G7 this year in the face of unprecedented global challenges. The Secretary further applauded Prime Minister Kishida for his work to advance stronger ties with the Republic of Korea (ROK). The Secretary emphasized the importance of U.S.-Japan-ROK trilateral cooperation in advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific. Secretary Blinken and Prime Minister Kishida reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to continuing to provide Ukraine the support it needs to defend its independence and protect its people. The Secretary also thanked the Prime Minister for Japan's pledge to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. The Secretary reaffirmed the United States' ironclad commitment to the defense of Japan.
