Body found in search for woman missing from South Coast

A body has been located during the search for a woman reported missing from the state's South Coast earlier this month.

The 55-year-old was last seen driving in the Narooma area on Sunday 31 July 2022.

When she could not be contacted, officers attached to South Coast Police District commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Following extensive inquiries, a vehicle the woman was believed to have been driving – a black BMW sedan – was located in the Wadbilliga National Park last Friday (26 August 2022) by rangers.

Police were notified and officers from Monaro Police District attended and conducted a search of the surrounding area, with the land search resuming yesterday (Sunday 28 August 2022).

About midday today (Monday 29 August 2022), the body believed to be that of the missing woman was located by officers in the vicinity of the vehicle.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
