Body Located After House Fire At Woodstock

A child has died following a house fire in the state's Central West.

Just before 3pm today (Saturday 12 September 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Waugoola Road, Woodstock, about 22km north-east of Cowra, following reports of a house fire.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District arrived to find the home well alight.

A woman and two children were able to escape the property; however, a four-year-old child remained unaccounted for.

The woman was taken to Cowra Hospital in a stable condition, suffering smoke inhalation.

Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters extinguished the blaze before locating the body of the child inside the home.

A crime scene has been established, and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire are ongoing.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
