Nominations are open for the Australia Day Awards, and we need you to help us celebrate the people and groups who make the Macleay such a special place to call home. It could be the volunteer who is always there to lend a hand. A young person making a positive difference. A local group bringing people together. Or someone who has spent years quietly giving their time, energy and care to others.
If someone has come to mind while reading this, we'd love you to nominate them.
Nominations close 30 November.
Celebrate the people who make a difference
There are so many ways people contribute to our community.
It might be through volunteering or community service, sport, the environment, arts and culture, reconciliation, education, fundraising or simply years of dedicated service to others.
Our Australia Day Awards give us the chance to say thank you and shine a light on those contributions.
Nominations are invited for the following awards:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Reconciliation Award
- Community Group of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
Sometimes the people doing the most for their community are the least likely to put themselves forward.
That's where you come in.
Think about the people you see at your sporting club, neighbourhood, school, community organisation or local events. Think about the person who is always helping out, bringing people together or making life a little better for those around them.
Whether their contribution is big and visible or happens quietly behind the scenes, this is your opportunity to help make sure it is recognised.
Taking a few minutes to nominate someone is a simple way to recognise the difference they make.
