Boy sexually touched in Sydney hotel pool; man charged

A man will appear in court today after being charged by the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad over the alleged sexual touching of a child at a hotel swimming pool in Sydney.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command commenced inquiries after receiving reports a seven-year-old boy had been sexually touched by an unknown man while swimming in a hotel pool at Pyrmont on Friday (27 December 2019).

The matter was subsequently referred to detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad for investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 38-year-old man at the hotel about 6.35pm yesterday (Saturday 28 December 2019).

The Belfield man was charged with intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 29 December 2019).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
