Bright Minds: NT's International Student Stars

NT Government

Minister for International Education, Migration and Population, Robyn Cahill OAM MLA, has congratulated the Territory's most outstanding international students at the 2025 Study NT International Student Awards, marking nine years of recognising excellence and the contributions international students and alumni bring to the NT community.

Minister Cahill said the awards highlight the Finocchiaro CLP Government's commitment to attracting and retaining global talent:

"Celebrating the achievements of our international students aligns with the CLP Government's commitment to rebuilding the economy by attracting and retaining the brightest global talent," Minister Cahill said.

"Congratulations to all the nominees, finalists, and winners of the 2025 International Student Awards, as well as to the Study NT Student Ambassadors who have successfully completed the program. The NT continues to attract some of the most promising and brightest minds from around the world, reinforcing our position as a leading study destination."

The Minister presented the top honour, Study NT International Student of the Year, to Gilbertofer Tanoto from Charles Darwin University (CDU). Since moving from Indonesia, Gilbertofer has been a passionate advocate for student needs, a peer mentor, and an inspiring leader.

"The Awards showcase the outstanding quality of our international student community, individuals who have gone above and beyond to make meaningful contributions to the NT," Minister Cahill said.

Employers were also recognised, with Kinetic IT named International Student Employer of the Year for its tailored program combining paid internships, work experience, and graduate opportunities.

The ceremony was held alongside the graduation of the 2025 Study NT Student Ambassadors, who have promoted the Territory as a premier study destination. A new award, Student Ambassador of the Year, was introduced to recognise exceptional leadership, with Mit Dinh from Vietnam, also of CDU, named the inaugural winner.
