Brunswick sexual assault investigation

Fawkner Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating sexual assault in Brunswick in February.

Investigators have been told a 30-year-old woman was walking south on Sydney Road, between Albert and Glenlyon roads, about 6.20am on 7 February.

She noticed a male walking closely behind her, so she crossed Sydney Road near the intersection of Glenlyon Road, but he followed her.

As she crossed the road, the man sexually assaulted her before walking away on Merri Street.

The male is perceived to be aged in his mid-20s, approximately 170cm tall with light brown crew cut hair and a receding hairline.

He was wearing a red Nike hooded top with "Just do it" written on the front and had a light blue surgical mask on.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information or any witnesses are urged to contact crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
