The Cook Labor Government is delivering on its election commitment, with the 2026-27 State Budget to fully fund the modular expansion of Albany Health Campus.
The $60 million project will deliver a new 32-bed modular ward, increasing capacity.
The new ward will increase the number of inpatient medical beds at the hospital, improve patient flow to help reduce pressure on the emergency department, and maintain timely access to elective surgery.
It will be located adjacent to the existing campus buildings and connected by a purpose-built link.
The previous State Budget included $1 million for essential project planning, with the additional $59 million in the 2026-27 budget fully funding design and construction.
The modular construction method maintains the same standards as a traditional build, while reducing disruption during construction by building hospital components off-site in controlled conditions.
The Cook Labor Government has already engaged Hutchinson Builders under the Early Contractor Involvement process for both the Meekatharra Hospital redevelopment and Albany Health Campus expansion.
As stated by Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:
"Our record $5.5 billion health infrastructure investment is delivering the biggest ever hospital building program - including projects across regional Western Australia.
"This investment will increase the number of inpatient medical beds at Albany Health Campus and delivers on our election commitment."
As stated by Health Minister Meredith Hammat:
"This $59 million additional investment fully funds this important project for Albany and the Great Southern.
"It demonstrates how we're growing capacity, ensuring Western Australians can access the care they need, when and where they need it."
