In 2021, it was reported on Scamwatch (2022) Australians lost $2+ billion to scammers and internet/ phone frauds, research has also shown that one third of scam victims do not report so the true cost may be well over this amount.
On Wednesday 9 November ScamFit with nbn will be holding a free workshop at the Playford Civic Centre Library.
Corinne Hawke, nbn Executive Manager Community and Stakeholder Engagement for SA and WA explains what attendees can expect from the upcoming session.
"Using the latest information from Scamwatch, participants will learn about some of the most common scams affecting Australians today as well as some tips and tricks in identifying and avoiding scams."
"Each year scams cost individuals and the economy hundreds of millions of dollars and can cause serious emotional harm to victims and their families."
Ms Hawke also encourages attendees to bring along any questions they have for the Q&A at the end of the session as ScamFit's aim is to help the community spot scams, especially with scammers continually developing new ways to catch people out.
