Builder Locked In For Temora Hospital Redevelopment

A major milestone has been reached in the redevelopment of Temora Hospital, with the main works contractor now appointed and construction expected to begin in the coming months.

The $95 million project will be undertaken by Richard Crookes Construction who will deliver new and upgraded health facilities to support the healthcare needs of Temora and surrounding communities now and into the future.

Nationals Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, said the long-awaited redevelopment would help secure the future of health services in the region.

"With a builder now appointed, we're seeing real progress on the ground," Ms Cooke said,

"This is another step toward delivering the high-quality, integrated health facility that the people of Temora have waited so long for and rightly deserve."

The hospital's design features a new emergency department, enhanced inpatient services adaptable for medical, surgical, rehabilitation, maternity, and palliative care, and upgraded birthing and nursery facilities.

In addition, a new operating theatre and procedure room will support more complex care, while expanded spaces for allied health and ambulatory services, including a gymnasium, will improve access to rehabilitation and ongoing support.

The project will also strengthen community-based care through improved spaces for mental health, drug and alcohol services, and community health programs.

Medical imaging services will be significantly upgraded with a larger unit, including a new ultrasound and CT scanner, along with an additional procedure room in the perioperative suite.

As part of the overall design, improvements to parking for patients, staff, and visitors, as well as separate access for emergency and service vehicles, will ensure the hospital is safer and easier to access.

"This investment is about long-term health outcomes for our region," Ms Cooke Said

"Whether you're starting a family, recovering from surgery, or needing community-based care, this new facility will meet the needs of local residents now and for generations to come."

The redevelopment is scheduled for completion in 2028.
