Building Brighter Futures: Territory Builder Wins $18 million Palmerston School Tender

The Territorys newest school is on track to be fullyoperational by Term 1, 2021, with local company Sunbuild awarded the $18.04million tender to build Stage 2 of Zuccoli Primary School.

The Territory Labor Government fast-tracked construction of the newgovernment school last year to cater for enrolment demand in Palmerston, theNTs fastest growing region.

When completed in 2021, the new school will cater for 430primary students and up to 88 pre-schoolers.

Construction is well advanced on Stage 1. The pre-school andeight primary school classrooms with capacity for more than 200 students isscheduled to open in Term 1, 2020.

Long-time Territory education leader Carolyn Edwards was lastmonth announced as the inaugural Zuccoli Primary School principal, and iscurrently consulting with the local community to determine which year levelswill be offered when Stage 1 opens next year.

Stage 2 of the project includes an additional eight classrooms,an administration building and a library.

It also includes facilities to be shared with the adjoiningMother Theresa Catholic School, including science, home economics and musicrooms, a multipurpose hall and a sports oval.

More than 100 construction jobs are expected to be supportedthrough the second stage of the project, adding to the 120 supported during thefirst stage.
